Hambanthota port authorities turned away an Antigua-registered ship that entered the port. Officials said that the local agents had not declared the radioactive cargo bound for China.

The  Atomic Energy Regulatory Council said that the vessel was carrying uranium hexafluoride. The ship was immediately expelled from the port as soon as the detection was made. The ship had come from Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
