Sending Sri Lankans for jobs in Korea will be expedited

Speaking at a meeting of the Ministry of External Affairs' Consultative Committee on Foreign Affairs, Minister of External Affairs Dinesh Gunawardena said that all steps have been taken to expedite the sending of Sri Lankans to Korea for employment, which was delayed due to the Covid situation.

The Minister further said that the Korean Ambassador has submitted a special proposal to provide employment opportunities to Sri Lankans in the agricultural sector in Korea and that the process has been delayed due to the Covid situation.

As new jobs are to be created in the agricultural sector in Korea, Sri Lankan workers are currently being sent only to the fisheries, construction and industrial sectors.
