Schools Open-Exams Postponed

On Monday (15th) all school gates will open except in the Western Province where classes will commence only for grade 5, 11, and 13.

 

Minister G L Pieris said that after the Sinhala –Tamil New year, on April 19th all schools in the island will reopen and school education will return to normal.  

 

The scholarship examination and the GCE A/L examination schedule to be held in August will be postponed according to a communiqué   issued by the Department of Examinations.

 

Meanwhile trade unionist Joseph starlin called upon the authorities to give the Corona prevention vaccine to school teachers on a priority basis.  
A number of educationalists have stressed the importance of providing support for students to be reoriented for classroom learning as some of them are returning to school after a long time.
