SJB to boycott parliamentary sessions this week

MPs of Samagi Jana Balawegaya will boycott the parliamentary sessions this week as the topics taken up for discussion are non-relevant to the current economic crisis, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa says.

Speaking further, the Opposition Leader said the incumbent government led by the President and the Prime Minister has failed and it has not addressed any of the issues faced by the general public.

Meanwhile, due to the Opposition’s announcement that it will boycott this week’s sittings, the independent parliamentarians have decided to move the adjournment motion pertaining to the prevailing health issues of the country which was scheduled to be moved by the Opposition for the purpose of taking up for debate today (June 22), the Communications Department of the Parliament said in a statement.
