Protesting HND students were attacked with tear gas and water cannons

Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by gas and water cannons (HNDs) near the World Trade Center in Colombo.

The Colombo Fort Police had obtained an order from the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court in Uva this morning regarding the protest march organized by HND students.

Protesters have been barred from entering several streets in Colombo, including York Street, Bank Street, Chaitya Road, Lower Chatham Street, Leiden Bastian Road, Sir Baron Jayatilake Mawatha, Mudalige Mawatha, Hospital Road and Canal Road.
