President instructs for temporary suspension of road construction near Sinharaja

The Road Development Authority stated that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed to temporarily halt the  road development work taking place near the Sinharaja Forest and World Heritage Site.

 

The said construction work  commenced on August  10.

 

The above was called after the Centre for Environmental and Nature Studies of Sri Lanka (CENS) had lodged  a complaint with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) on the illegal road construction inside the Sinharaja World Heritage Site.
