Pavithra's vaccine proposal to be resubmitted

The proposal of   Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi to set up a joint venture with a Chinese company be set up to produce the COVID-19 vaccine for five years has not received cabinet approval and asked to be resubmitted. The proposed Chinese vaccine is yet to be granted approval by the World Health Organisation.

 

Meanwhile, the government has claimed that the required number of vaccines has already been ordered from different sources.
