Mrs World gets bail from courts

The reigning Mrs World Caroline Jurie from Sri Lanka has been released on bail by a court for allegedly causing injury to winner of a beauty consent held two weeks back,   an official said Monday.

Mrs World Jurie appeared before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s courts on Monday where the judge ordered to release the suspect on Rs 100,000 (US $ 516) surety bail which serves as a bond.

Jurie is accused of pulling off the crown off the winner of the Mrs Sri Lanka pageant held on April 4 in Colombo claiming that the winner was not eligible as she was divorced.

But the winner  Pushpika De Silva said she was not divorced, though she was living separately from her husband. The injury to de Silva was caused while removing the crown minutes after she was announced the winner.

Meanwhile, Mrs Sri Lanka was recrowned on the following day after the organisers held that de Silva was eligible to be winner.  Meanwhile Police reported to the courts that an estimated damage of Rs 400,000 has been caused during the incident .
