More rains predicted during New Year

The Meteorology Department has predicted more thundershowers over several parts of the country during the New Year and called upon the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damage that could be caused during lightning activity.

 

Heavy rains falls measuring about 100 mm can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Western and North-Western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts, a senior official with the Met. Department said.

 

He added that misty conditions can also be expected at some places in the Central highlands, Sabaragamuwa and the Western provinces during the morning on Wednesday (April, 14).
