Jailer arrested for smuggling goods into prison

The Police Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a prison guard who was attempting to smuggle two mobile phones, two telephone batteries and 233 grams of tobacco into the Welikada Prison.

He was arrested during a search operation inside the prison and the items were found hidden in socks on his feet.

The regulator is to be handed over to the Borella Police for further investigations.
