Island-wide travel restrictions Friday to Monday

An island-wide travel ban will be imposed from  11 pm on Friday (21) to 4 am on May 25 continuously, Army Commander General  Shavendra Silva said. Then, travel restrictions will be imposed again from 11 pm on May 25 to 4 am on May 28.

 

This weekend restriction will prohibit people from leaving their homes and only those involved in essential services will be allowed to be on the roads. Average of 2,2000: Daily Covid-19 cases that crossed 2,500 have now averaged at 2,200 cases, but the health authorities cannot be complacent about the situation, an official said today.

 

Deputy Director-General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath told a press conference organized by the Health Promotion Bureau that the health sector should bring the daily cases down further somehow to manage the situation. A total of 1,579 more COVID-19 patients have been detected today, increasing the total cases reported in Sri Lanka to 144,325, the Government Information Department said.
