Interdicted Linton Supports CCTV in Police Stations

The a Chief Inspector of Police Linton de Silva said in interview that he or anyone else at the Paliyagoda Police did not attack  the Son  of former Governor Maithri Gunaratne and it was  the victims  behavior that led to the incident.

 

Linton Silva said that when he asked for the phone of the Migara Gunaratna  it was full of phonographic material.
He said that there was a scuffle when Migara resisted handing over the phone and he would have stretched himself against the aluminum panel in his office.

 

The interdicted chief inspector flashed a photograph of Miigara which shows him smiling and a plaster
on his face, said to be taken just after the incident.

 

Linton said that Migara has various accusations of carrying firearms but later was acquitted and said that the Gunaratna’s have a number of pending cases.

 

Minister

 

He also revealed that a minister attempted to influence him to prevent arrest of the suspects of the case but declined to reveal the name of the minister.
The interdicted inspector said that underworld characters are now constantly threatening him.

Linton Silva said that he has retained Presidential Council   Tyrantha Walaliyadda who has an impressive track record of defending those in the hot water for hefty lawyers’ fees.

 

‘My friends are supporting me’ said Linton Silva who denied all chargers out right.

 

He said that he is very much in favour of installing CCTV cameras in Police stations to prevent assault.
