Heavy rain has triggered a red alert in nine regions.

Heavy rains over 100 mm are forecast in various areas of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts, due to active southwest monsoon conditions over Sri Lanka.
