Former President Premadsa tried to destroy Prabhkaran by Malayali Gurukam

Former President Ranasinghe Premadasa had relied on ‘Malayali Gurukam’ to destroy former LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakara, a former staff member who worked closely with the former President had revealed. The revelation was made by the former Photographer of the ex-President in a newspaper interview.

 

He is Sudath Silva who had worked for many Presidents and Prime Ministers. Mr Silva said on the day which Premadasa met with his untimely death he had telephoned him in the morning and asked him if he had a photograph of Prabhakaran.

 

“I told him I had his picture in office. He wanted me to bring 10 copies when I meet him in the morning”, he said.

 

“As promised I took 10 copies of the picture and gave it to President Premadasa who was preparing to go for the May day celebration”, he said.

 

He said on the way he saw President Premadasa giving the photographs to one of his aides. A couple of hours later President Premadasa met with his untimely death when he was caught up in a suicide bomb attack at Armour street in 1993. Mr Silva had later asked the aide one happened to the photographs. The aide had told him that the pictures were given for a ‘Malaylai Gurukama’ to destroy Prabhakaran.
