Focus on weather today

The Met Department warns that there could be showers in the Sabaragamuwa, Western, Central Provinces and in some places in the Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers during the evening or night in the Uva, Eastern and Mullaitivu districts and several spells of thundershowers in the North Western Province as well.

Strong winds of 40-50 kmph are also expected in the western slopes of the southern, north-western and central hills and in the Matale district.

The Meteorological Department urges the public to take necessary measures to minimize the damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning.
