Focus on weather today

Showers are likely in the Southwestern part of the island during the next few days and several spells of showers are also expected in the North Western Province and the Hambantota District.

Heavy showers exceeding 75 mm are also expected in the Sabaragamuwa Province, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Nuwara Eliya and Kandy districts. Showers or thundershowers will occur in the Uva Province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening.

The Met Department warns that strong winds of 40-50 kmph are possible in Hambantota, Trincomalee, the western slopes of the Central Highlands and in the North, North Central and North Western Provinces.
