EC to summon Finance Ministry officials for discussion on funds required for LG polls

 

Mr. Nimal G. Punchihewa, Chairman of the Election Commission, said that the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and its officials will be called for a discussion on Thursday (February 16) to discuss the issue of money required for local government bodies.

The head of the Election Commission also pointed out that they will try to hold the marking of postal votes on earlier dates.

Earlier on Monday (Feb. 13), the Government Press had informed the Election Commission in writing that the printing works related to the upcoming local government elections cannot be carried out without the due payments.
