A fifth wave is coming - 10,000 deaths in Sri Lanka in September

The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has stated that there is a risk of 6,000 to 10,000 covid deaths in Sri Lanka in September.

The Secretary of the Medical Officers' Association, Dr. Senal Fernando, said that there is a risk of a dangerous fifth wave of covid in Sri Lanka.

He added that the change in virus strains could be exacerbated and that resistance to the vaccine could increase.
