The average oxygen tank can store about 26,000 liters at present, but should be prepared for any increase in the number of patients in the near future, said Dr. Chandana Gajanayake, Deputy Director, Specialist, Colombo National Hospital.

A sample test conducted by the Division of Allergy, Immunology and Cell Biology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura revealed that the Delta variety has spread to 11 districts and 26 cities.

Due to the spread of the Delta variety, there has been an increase in the number of patients being reported and the Colombo National Hospital has decided to increase its oxygen capacity if there is a need for oxygen.
