World Travel Awards

Questions have been raised about the legitimacy of the World Travel Awards (WTA) ceremony scheduled for December in Colombo, Sri Lanka. 

 

 

Some international media sources have cast doubt on the credibility of these awards, alleging that nominees were selected based on their ability to pay an application fee of at least £650. 

 

 

It is claimed that the nomination list was limited because only those willing to pay the fees were included. However, the WTA claims to be an established platform that recognizes excellence in the travel and hospitality sectors. 

 

 

The event is said to be attended by industry leaders and is widely covered. State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage denied knowledge of these allegations and emphasized the event's significance for the country's tourism industry.
