May - 21 is a Day to Celebrate!

The Global AIDS Candlelight Memorial Day is dedicated to those who have died of AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) as well as the ones who have committed their lives to reach out a helping hand to those affected by HIV. In 1983, H.I.V.-positive individuals created an annual candlelight ceremony and consequently, H.I.V. awareness has increased.

 

On May 21, International Tea Day is celebrated all around the world by tea lovers, in celebration of their favorite beverage. The Day also promotes ways to sustain the production and consumption of tea. The surprising fact is that tea is the most loved beverage for millions worldwide. Every second, people consume 25,000 cups of tea which leads to the assumption that two billion cups of tea are consumed per day.

 

Every year, the World Meditation Day is celebrated on May 21st. The practice of meditation traces back to 3000 BC and it seeks to create awareness about meditation and its benefits. The practice includes mind-relaxing and focusing techniques.

 

The World Fish Migration Day falls on May 21 seeking to improve the public understanding of the importance of migratory fish. The event further creates awareness about the importance of migratory fish and free-flowing rivers. The events are organized to encourage the citizens to take measures to protect the freshwater fish.

 

The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, also known as Diversity Day, is celebrated on May 21 every year. The day is dedicated to appreciating the cultural diversities between different countries, states, and people in the World. A three-quarter of the world’s major conflicts have a cultural dimension.
