Only 5 deaths from the total death toll reported as COVID related deaths in SL - Army Commander

The National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCP) stated that only 5 deaths from the total deaths reported during the pandemic situation have been reported as COVID related deaths in the country. 

 

The Head of the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 , Army Commnader Lieutinant Shavendra Silva stated that the  Secretary to the Health Ministry has verified that the other deaths have not been caused mainly by the coronavirus, but owing to other chronic diseases.

 

The individuals who suffer from chronic diseaces are requested to obtain medical assistance as required and not stay at home owing to the quarantine restrictios. 

 

Furthermore, special arrnagements have been made for those who need urgent medical attention in those areas that are under lockdown and the ambulances have been prvided to transfer the patients to the hospitals. 

 

The Army Commander also stated that only about 0.2% have been reported to have died owing to the virus and he urged  those who require medical attention to seek treatment without fearor hesitation.
