SLTB security officer murdered, Rs. 900,000 robbed

Police launched investigations in search of a group of individuals who had robbed Rs. 900,000 and murdered a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) security officer, the Nuwara Eliya Police said.

The victim, identified as K. Logeshwaran (85), was a resident of the Galpaya area in Nuwara Eliya.

Police investigations revealed that the money was stolen from the cabinet at the SLTB depot after the security officer was killed.

The security officer had been reportedly assaulted with a sharp weapon and had succumbed to his head injuries.

Though at the time of the incident the depot manager and the cashier had been present in the building, they had been asleep, according to the police.
