Salt prices increased

The Hambantota Lanka Salt Company has decided to increase the price of salt.

 

Accordingly, the price of a 400 gram packet of salt powder has been increased by Rs. 20 from Rs. 100 to Rs. 120, and the price of a kilogram packet of salt cubes has been increased by Rs. 60, from Rs. 120 to Rs. 180.

 

Earlier, the Cabinet approved a proposal to allow the import of 30,000 metric tonnes of salt amidst a possible shortage in the first quarter of 2025.

 

The Hambantota Salt Company said this price increase is a temporary measure.
