SLPP Candidate remanded for bribery

The Revenue Officer of the Akmeemana Pradeshiya Sabha, one of the SLPP candidates contesting the elections for the Imaduwa Pradeshiya Sabha,  was taken into custody on suspicion of accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000 to issue a trade licence for a hotel in the Unawatuna area.

 

He was arrested by a team of investigation officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegation of Bribery or Corruption when he accepted the bribe in a room in the hotel.

 

The suspect Angulugaha Gamage Tennison Jayatilleka was produced before Galle Acting Magistrate Lalith Pathirana and remanded till May 09.
