Sudden train strike launched

A sudden train strike was launched a short while ago, demanding the suspension of duties of a security officer who had allegedly assaulted an under-guard, the Railways Department said.

 

They said the underguard was assaulted at the Maligawatta railway yard following a dispute.

 

The strike action affects only the trains operating from the Maligawatta railway yard. A discussion is being held with the Railways General Manager (GMR) regarding the issue.
