SriLankan Airlines begins cabin crew recruitment, draws 12,000 applicants

SriLankan Airlines has launched a major recruitment drive to bolster its cabin crew team, drawing nearly 12,000 applications in response to a public call for candidates. The initiative aligns with the airline’s expansion plans amid rising passenger demand and growth in emerging markets.

The Airline said that Shortlisted applicants have been invited to participate in the next phase of the selection process, scheduled for 20–23 May 2025 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).

The multi-stage assessment at BMICH includes document verification, an image and presentation evaluation, and an aptitude interview conducted by a panel of experts. Candidates must clear each stage to proceed. Final interviews for those who pass all rounds will be held at the airline’s headquarters in Katunayake, where the final selection will be made.

“We are looking for individuals who reflect the spirit of Sri Lanka and are passionate about delivering world-class service,” said Susan Jacob, Group Head of Human Resources. “Our transparent, rigorous process ensures fairness while helping us identify those who truly have the aptitude and attitude required for the role.”

Ravi Samarasinghe, Senior Manager of Cabin Services, emphasized the broader significance of the recruitment: “Bringing in new cabin crew is essential not only for achieving our strategic goals but also for supporting the country’s growing tourism sector. Fresh talent strengthens operations and contributes to the national economy.”
