The trade union members and employees meet with the former president

In order to discuss their issues regarding the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation’s move to send several employees and trade union members on compulsory leave, a group of petroleum trade unionists met the former president, Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa this morning.
The trade unionists stated that they expect their former president would intervene in this matter for a promising solution.
The petroleum trade unions carried on a strike against the cause of privatizing the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the distribution of fuel to foreign entities.
However, on March 29th, the CPC decided to send those strikers and those who supported the union leaders on compulsory leave for obstructing fuel distribution activities.
A group of 20 trade unionists was sent on compulsory leave and they all met the former president today.
