41 Kandy schools closed for security lodging from April 21–25

The Zonal Education Office of Kandy has announced that selected schools will be used as lodgings for security forces personnel for four days, in view of the special exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Dalada Maligawa.
A special notice issued to all school principals in Kandy said that the selected schools will be used as lodgings for security personnel from April 21 to April 25.
The notice was issued by the Kandy Zonal Education Director, Ms. D.C.I. Andarage.
Accordingly, 41 schools in the Kandy Educational Zone will be utilised for this purpose.
All selected schools will be granted a four-day holiday, and this decision was taken to minimise road traffic during the event.
To compensate for the missed school days, all affected schools will conduct an additional one hour of classes per day starting from April 28, to be completed over a period of five weeks.
Principals have also been advised to inform the Provincial Zonal Education Director about the measures taken to ensure the continuation of academic activities.
