Selfie turns fatal: Two women killed by train

A female student and another woman were killed after being struck by an express train at the Anuradhapura New Town Railway Station.

 

The victims were part of a group from Ratnapura attending a taekwondo tournament at the Anuradhapura Public Ground.

 

Police said the victims—an 18-year-old school student and a 37-year-old woman, the mother of another student participating in the tournament—were hit by the train, travelling from Kankesanthurai to Colombo, while taking a selfie of the train track at the station.
