Vavuniya Prison closed

The Vavuniya Prison in Sri Lanka has been closed for two weeks due to a measles outbreak among inmates. As a result, visitors are not allowed to enter the prison, and detainees are not being taken out for legal proceedings during this time.
The disease is spreading rapidly due to limited space within the prison premises. Health authorities and Public Health Inspectors are vaccinating both prison officers and inmates.
The prison is expected to resume its usual activities after a few days once the situation is controlled.
