Sun directly over Sri Lanka for 9 days

The sun is expected to be directly over Sri Lanka from April 5 to April 14, as a result of its apparent northward relative motion, the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said.

 

Accordingly, the nearest areas in Sri Lanka where the sun will be directly above are Kahawa, Meetiyagoda, Elamaldeniya, Ambakolawewa and Bundala at around 12:13 noon, the Department said.

 

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall of above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern Provinces.

 

Thundershowers will occur at times in the Southern Province and in the Moneragala, Ampara and Batticaloa districts. Showers or thundershowers will occur in the other areas of the island during the afternoon or night. Showers may occur in Western coastal areas in the morning too.
