Suspect detained over seizure of heroin and ’Ice’ worth Rs. 8 million

- A 27-year-old resident of Kadawatha was ordered to be detained for a period of seven days under Section 82(3) of the Poisons, Opium and Dangerous Drugs Ordinance following his arrest with a large stock of narcotics.

 

The suspect was found in possession of 13 kilograms and 372 grams of heroin, along with 3 kilograms and 580 grams of 'Ice' during a raid conducted based on information received by the Malabe Police.

 

The raid was carried out at a house located in the Nagahamulla area, Kotikawatta, within the Wellampitiya Police Division, which was suspected to be used as a drug distribution center. Upon searching the premises, officers discovered the stock of drugs concealed inside a travel bag in one of the rooms and apprehended the suspect.

 

During interrogation, the suspect revealed the name of a drug trafficker known as 'Morin,' operating from the Mahara area.

 

The suspect, Imesh Madushanka, was produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate Pavithra Sanjeewani Pathirana, who allowed the request to detain the suspect for seven days for further investigations under the provisions of the Ordinance.
