Kurundiya archaeological reserve in danger again

Kurundiya archaeological reserve in danger again

A group of people have taken steps to cultivate the Kurundiya Archaeological Reserve land without permission.

This is how the land has been prepared in Kurundiya using a tractor.

When we inquired about this from the Northern Province Sanghanayake and Incumbent of the Kurundiya Rajamaha Viharaya Ven. Galgamuwe Santhabodhi Thero, he said that this person has already excavated about half an acre of this land, ignoring the orders of the police officers. The Thero said that the person in question has political connections and a police complaint has been filed in this regard.

Such unauthorised excavations have been taking place continuously in the Northern Province.

However, the Thero said that even though investigations are carried out in such cases, such incidents still occur.
