Weather forecast for heavy rains

The Meteorological Department has issued a 'Amber' warning for heavy showers in two provinces and two districts.

Heavy showers exceeding 100 mm are expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in some places in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya Districts.

People living in mountainous areas (especially landslide prone areas) and low-lying areas along river basins are urged to be vigilant, as well as drivers and road users in mountainous areas.
