Driving license due to expire, extended by six months

The validity period of driving licenses that expire between April 1 and September 30 of 2021 has been extended and an extraordinary gazette notification has been issued noting the same.
As per the gazette notification, an extension of 6 months has been granted for the driving licences beginning from the original date of expiry.
The gazette notification has been signed by Minister of Transport Gamini Lokuge.
The regulations portrayed under Motor Traffic (Temporary Extension of the Validity Period of Driving License) have been made by the Transport Minister under the provisions of the Motor Traffic Act.
Furthermore, the relevant regulations cited by the gazette notification will not be applied to driving licences of which the validity period has already been extended.
