Two killed in police jeep-threewheeler collision

Two persons traveling in a three-wheeler were killed in a head-on collision between a jeep belonging to the Katupotha Police Station and a group of pilgrims in the Katupotha area this morning (28).

 

Police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that a 40-year-old father and his mother, a 69-year-old woman, were killed while traveling in the three-wheeler.

 

The 34-year-old man's wife and two 9-year-old and 13-year-old daughters who were traveling in the three-wheeler were admitted to the Kurunegala Hospital with serious injuries.

 

The driver of the police officer who was injured in the accident has been admitted to the Katupotha Hospital and is to be arrested, the police spokesman said.

 

The Kuliyapitiya SSP is conducting a special investigation.
