Three students have been killed in a school shooting in the US

Three students have been killed and eight others injured in a shooting at a high school in the US state of Michigan.

 

The 15-year-old suspect had fired between 15 and 20 rounds of ammunition from a semi-automatic pistol, police said.

 

Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe told reporters at a news conference outside Oxford High School on Tuesday that emergency calls began at 12:51 (17:51 GMT) local time.

 

Authorities say the suspect, a second-year male student, surrendered five minutes after police were called. He added that a police officer stationed at the school assisted in arresting the suspect.

 

McCabe later said the suspect had been in class before the shooting began, adding that "he left without any problems."
