The digital identity card will be activated from next year

By giving every citizen a unique identity card (UID), Sri Lanka can be seen coming out nationally with a digital identity every year, ending the endless hassle and inconvenience of citizens and businesses in their day-to-day dealings with the government.

Twenty years after the inception of the UID project in Sri Lanka, the epidemic and the rapid digital transformation seemed to have accelerated the implementation of the project, which provides the backbone for all public and private services.
