The LPBOA is going to introduce a ticketing system instead of a physical conductor on the bus

The Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association (LPBOA) is to introduce a ticketing system to replace the physical conductor of the bus.

LPBOA President Gemunu Wijerathna said the decision was taken considering the difficulties currently faced by bus owners in employing conductors.

Therefore, the LPBOA decided to run the buses without the support of the conductors, he said. "The rear doors of the buses will be closed and passengers will be transported only to the seating capacity.

There will be a box near the front door of the bus where the bus fare will be reduced for the distance traveled by the passengers. The distance of the bus will be announced according to the bus fare," he said.

Therefore, Mr. Wijeratne urged passengers to pay the correct bus fare to travel the distance they wish. "Passengers have to put the bus fare in the box and get the ticket, or they can put the prepaid card on the electronic ticket machine and get the ticket because there is no change.
