The Attorney General has stated that the Provincial Council elections cannot be held without the passage of a new Act

Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardena said that the Provincial Council elections could not be held without passing a new bill.

He said that although it was essential to hold provincial council elections, which had been active for a long time without people's representatives, the legal situation was an obstacle.

He said it was not the job of the select committee to draft the law but to recommend its work.
