Tense situation at Mahara Prison ; one inmate killed in gun fire

A tense situation has arisen among inmates at the Mahara Prison, says Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana.

 

A team of Special Task Force (STF) officers has been deployed to control the situation.

 

The Commissioner-General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya stated that one inmate was killed after prison officials opened fire to control the situation.

 

Another two inmates have sustained injuries.
