Sri Lanka to allow registration of electric three-wheelers

 

The Cabinet has approved the amendment of the Motor Vehicles Act to allow the registration of electric tricycles in Sri Lanka.

This proposal has been tabled by the Minister of Transport and Highways Mr. Bandula Gunawardena.

The government says that it has received many requests from various parties for permission to register electric tricycles in Sri Lanka to promote the use of electric vehicles to reduce fossil fuel consumption.
