Sri Lanka is exploring the possibility of using Merck's antiviral pill

It is reported that Sri Lanka is exploring the possibility of using an oral antiviral drug developed by the pharmaceutical giant 'Merck' to treat covid-19 patients.
Merck & Co. Inc. (MRKN), the manufacturer of the tablets, has already applied for a U.S. emergency permit to treat patients with mild to moderate COVID-19.
Prof. Channa Jayasumana, Minister of State for Pharmaceuticals, Supplies and Regulations, in a written request to the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Sela Gunawardena, on October 11 to provide the Board of Experts with an opinion on the use of these pills for therapeutic purposes.
