SL to ban wearing of face veils in public - Justice Minister Ali Sabry

A proposal has been submitted to the Cabinet to amend the Muslim law in Sri Lanka by November 2021.
Justice Minister Ali Sabry stated that the amendments pertain to the proposed increase in the minimum age of marriage to 18 and allowing the bride to sign the marriage document.
It also contains a ban on the burqa in public places owing to security reasons.
He also said that he will not permit any changes to the laws pertaining to Buddhism in Sri Lanka under his tenure.
