Russia Embassy expresses concern over SLMC's decision on delisting three Russian universities

The Russian Embassy in Colombo has expressed concern over the decision reached by the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) to delist three prominent Russian State Universities from the SLMC Approved List “without prior information”.
The Sri Lanka Medical Council has delisted three Russian Universities including the renowned Patrice Lumumba University from the list of foreign universities recognized by Sri Lanka.
The said decision was reached at the annual general meeting of the Sri Lanka Medical Council on June 26 where the People’s Friendship University of Russia, also known as Patrice Lumumba University, Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University and Tver State Medical University that award full scholarships to Sri Lankan studentswere delisted from the approved list by of the Sri Lanka Medical Council for 2020.
The above three Russian medical colleges have been offering free full scholarships to Sri Lankan students since 1960 have been removed
The Cultural section of the Russian Embassy issued a statement where they mentioned that the three universities had been removed from the SLMC Approved List, although the SLMC held several meetings with the officials of these Russian Universities who came down to Sri Lanka throughout the past years, and the relevant payments to the SLMC were made by those universities to maintain the membership regulary.
They have also stated that the said decision reached by the SLMC will not affect the awarding of Russian State scholarships to Sri Lankan citizens in future.
