Police are investigating the private secretaries of two ministers in connection with the search for gold buried by the LTTE
The investigation is being carried out into allegations that the two personal staff members of the Minister had secretly tried to recover a stock of gold allegedly buried in the Puthukudiirippu area in the Mullaitivu District during the war.
It is reported that the two persons concerned are acting as Private Secretaries to the Minister of Public Defense and the Minister of Fisheries.
Meanwhile, two persons introducing themselves as the Secretary to the Minister of Public Defense and the Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries had telephoned the OIC of the Puthukudiirippu Police Station (OIC) on the morning of November.
The announcement further states that the Minister has instructed the relevant institutions to conduct a special inquiry into those reports and incidents.
