PUCSL refuses to declare a state of emergency in Sri Lanka

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has protested against the declaration of a public emergency in Sri Lanka for the second time in five weeks and has asked the government to reverse the decision as it will further destabilize the current economy.

In a letter to the Secretary to the President, Janaka Ratnayake, Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission, said that they believe that the continuous power shortage is the main cause and effect of the public / consumer upheaval and the current level of protests and unrest.
