Operations from August to prevent counterfeit liquor

The Excise Department will introduce a safety sticker with a code for locally produced liquor and beer bottles to prevent the sale of substandard and counterfeit liquor from August 15, Mr. M.J.Gunasiri said.

He further said that the excise officers will be provided with 400 machines to check the quality of liquor and beer bottles after affixing the security sticker.

The Commissioner of Excise stated that the parties who released liquor to the market fraudulently by excise can be quickly identified through the sticker with this code.
