Muslims in Sri Lanka celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Tuesday

The Colombo Grand Mosque said that Muslims in Sri Lanka will celebrate Eid al-Fitr on Tuesday (May 03) as the new moon did not appear yesterday.

Accordingly, the 30 days of Ramadan will be completed and Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Tuesday, as the Shawwal crescent has not appeared.

The ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar is Ramadan and the tenth month is Shawwal, the first day of which is marked around the world as Eid-ul-Fitr.
